They are a new breed of undercover police officers – an elite unit of baby-faced cops who walk their beat down high school hallways. With headquarters in an abandoned chapel located at 21 Jump Street, the rookie cops pose as students to infiltrate the world of teenage crime. The 21 Jump Street team is a mixed group, including Officer Tom Hanson, a second generation police officer.

Hanson operates by-the-book, but his baby-face makes him an easy target for the city’s tough guys. Among the other recruits are Officer H.T. Ioki, a Japanese-American, who learned to speak English by watching television; Officer Judy Hoffs, an upper-middle-class black woman who rejects her roots to be a cop; and Officer Doug Penhall, a streetwise rookie cop. They all answer to the hard-nosed, by-the-book Captain Adam Fuller.
